Children’s Services Workers Vote to Fight ‘Trust’ Status

On 29 January a joint union meeting of workers from Children’s Service heard from Doncaster’s UNISON Branch Secretary, Jim Board, on what had happened to Children’s Services in Doncaster.

Jim Board pointed out that Doncaster and Sandwell had used the same so called ‘improvement partner’, iMpower, which had failed to improve the service in both Authorities. Both Authorities had shared certain managers, now including Eleanor Brazil, who converted Doncaster’s service into a ‘Trust’. Since the ‘Trust’ was set up in Doncaster, Ofsted have still found the service ‘inadequate’.

Faced with all the uncertainties of being privatised to a new employer the meeting voted unanimously for the attached motion calling for an industrial action ballot should any plans for a ‘Trust’ be announced.

Please see the attachment for the full motion to go to the AGM on Thursday 3 March.
