Additional Leave for NJC employees from 1 April 2023

Part of the 2022/23 pay award agreement was an additional days leave from 1st April 2023.

When your leave year renews during 2023/24, make sure you receive an extra day of leave (pro-rata for part-time workers).

Between 1st April 2023 and the beginning of your new leave year you will receive the additional leave in the form of hours. (except at Sandwell Children’s Trust where you will receive either an additional half day or full day of leave rounded up so nobody loses out).

The additional hours are calculated on a 7.4 working day divided by the number of months between 1st April and the start of your new leave year.

For example, if your leave year begins in May then on the 1st April 2023 you should receive an additional 30mins leave (calculated 7.4 / 12 x 1month – rounded to the nearest 30 mins).

If your leave year begins in June then on the 1st April 2023 you should receive an additional 1 hour of leave (calculated 7.4 / 12 x 2months – rounded to the nearest 30 mins) and so on through the months.

Then when your new leave year begins you receive the full additional days leave.

For part-time workers the additional leave is pro-rata your working hours.

For term-time workers in schools you will receive additional pay equivalent to an extra days leave.
